Visualisation and Goal Setting

Continuing the discussion on Wealth Creation. I've been researching the uncanny ability of the mind to visualise things into becoming realities in our life, the book The Secret by Rhonda burns goes into this in unique way. Have you ever been thinking of a friend you have not seen for a long time and then all of a sudden they seem to show up, call or email you. I've had that on too numerous occasions. Now I don't beleive I'm telepathic even though my children may think I have eyes in the back of my head. I do however believe that we are all intrinsically connected to each other.  See it was the act of thinking about our friend in the example above this set something in motion, you may have imagined their face, smile or a conversation. But in essence it was the thought that brought you together. Us humans are Visual by nature so when we visualise a target a goal our minds do everything in its power to make it a reality, what you visualise becomes a focal point for your imagination. Top athletes us the art of visualisation to develop their skills in a given area. They run the race or perform the task in their minds, long before the race begins. They see themselves on the starting block, they can hear the roar of the crowd 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oil, oi, oi'. They smell the air of the arena, bend their heads down, push their rear in the air put hands on the track and hear the crack of the starting gun, and their off. Watching every detail of the race from their minds eye, as they raise their hands to break through the yellow ribbon. To the cheers and applause of the crowd. They have won the race before they begin. Visualisation gives us an advantage allowing us to see possibilities beyond the here and now. To something of a future time when our visions and goals become realities. Nothing is impossible to those who believe, those that get the vision of their future and go for it. Write the Vision and make it plain For many people their hopes and dreams are to them simply fantasies that have seemingly little to no hope of success. Why is that? Why is it that some folk just always seem to be in the right place at the right time. For some seemingly extraordinary people it doesn't seem to matter what they put their hand to, it's successful. What's the difference between the two? People who are successful at least from my research seem to have several things in common, which make them stand out in the scheme of things.  1. They know absolutely what they want and they can clearly visualise it as a reality. Successful people have seen where they are going and they have written down the goal. They have put pen to paper, finger to tablet and have made the goal or goals as clear as crystal to their mind. They visualise regularly having that career the car, that level of income. It is so well visualised that there is no question in their minds that they will succeed. 2. They don't see setbacks as failures, only feedback. I was listening to an interview by Sal Khan on "Khan Academy" with Ilon Musk the founder of Paypal, Tesla motors and Space X. Just the opening remarks of the interview were inspiring. Ilon Musk: "Sorry I'm late I just came from the Tesla fastory", Khan: "was there something going wrong?" Ilon "theres always something going wrong" today we were missing a $3 USB Cable". Khan "these things happen all the time (things going wrong) Ilon "All the time".  This little event stopped their entire production line, but Ilon and his team had a plan A, B and yes they had to go to plan C in order to continue production. The point is setbacks are not failures, successful people treat them as feedback, so that they can improve.

Visualisation allows you to see past the short term problems and difficulties, making problems that would stop other people seem just a challenge that needs an answer, because you have the goal clear in your mind you can achieve it. Next time writing a vision board to help you visualise your goals.
